The Lowe’s List for Innovation was just released and I am partnering with Lowe’s Home Improvement to let you know about this valuable resource!
I have always been a proponent of doing research on the right materials, tools and products for my DIY projects. I have accumulated a lot of knowledge over the years but there are always new products coming to the market so I often read countless reviews and spend hours trying to make sure I make the right choices.
When I find a great resource I make sure to bookmark it! Such was the case when Lowe’s released their “Lowe’s List for Innovation” this week. This list is a new curated guide to some of the most innovative products in the home/DIY space which was put together by Lowe’s in-house experts. There are over 60 products on the first iteration of the list, falling across many home categories. After scanning the list I realized that I already own/use many of the products on it. This was reassuring to me, knowing that my research paid off but at the same time gave me confidence about the other products on the list! Let me tell you about a few of my favorites and how I am using them on my porch project!
HGTV Home Sherwin Williams Everlast Exterior Paint
I used HGTV Home Sherwin Williams Everlast in three different colors to paint the playhouse 3 years ago and it looks as good as the day that I applied it! I really wasn’t surprised that it made the list because it really is engineered to give the best performance of any exterior paint. It has all-weather protection, water-beading technology and does not require a separate primer.
Now that the framing for the porch is complete, there is a lot of finishing work to be done, including painting. I am using PVC trim inside and outside of the porch and all of it will be painted “Pure White” to match the existing trim on our house. Due to the height of the porch, I decided that for most of the trim, I am going to pre-paint it off of the porch to avoid going up and down the ladder. Painting the trim in a horizontal orientation on saw-horses is fast with a full size roller!
Power Pro Multi-Material Screws
Power Pro has been my go-to fastener for the last couple of years and these are on the list too! I went through multiple buckets of their exterior multi-material screws during the framing of the porch. Why are they so innovative? They have a four layer corrosion protection coating, countersinking blades on the back of the head so they make a clean finish in the wood and you install them with a start drive bit. I have NEVER stripped one and for a screw that is pretty incredible (and innovative)!
Spyder Stinger Spade Bit Set
The innovative new design of these Spyder bits is what sets them apart from the traditional spade drill bits. They claim to be 20x faster than a conventional spade bit and I don’t doubt it at all. I used these bits to drill through holes in multiple locations in the framing of the porch and they made super clean holes in the framing lumber in a matter of seconds! Having the right tool really does make all the difference.
These are just a few of my favorite products on the list and you’ll find a lot more when you visit the Lowe’s List for Innovation. The products are tagged in-store as well so be on the lookout for them!
